I have always had fond memories of times by the seaside. During my younger days as a boy scout, we would have campfires by the sea, and those times would always be the most amazing because of the camaraderie and friendship.

Being the adventurous type, I would also go fishing by the rocks at night and during those times, I would occasionally see luminous blue colours off the edges of the beach.

The luminous blue, mixed with hypnotic lapping sound of the waves, always managed to put me into a trance-like state. These memories got buried in my consciousness as adult life got in the way.

One day, I read about the “Blue Tears” phytoplankton phenomenon (on the coast of Matsu’s Island in Taiwan).

In an instant, my wonderful childhood reminiscence came flooding back, and I had to create something to keep myself from forgetting them.

This theme, called “Matsu’s Blue Tears,” is a nostalgic peg of my amazing childhood by the sea.
